Plot / Movie Story / Movie Review

The movie begins with titles and a background score of the song O Maramanishi. Scientist Dr. Vasikar (aka Vasi) (played by Rajnikanth) works at a robots laboratory and is in the process of building a robot named Chittibabu aka Chitti (also played by Rajnikanth) that appears and behaves just like a human. When on work, he ignores calls from his girlfriend Sana (played by Aishwarya Rai). Sana calls 112 times but missed to reach him. Her first appearance in the movie is in a yellow t-shirt and a blue jean calling the Scientist from a park. The scientist builds the robot; data transfers all information and trains him. Sana comes to his lab but couldn't meet him and hence tells his assistant that she will no longer meet him. The scientist puts on a skin to the robo to make it appear just like him. He decides to train the robot by putting him access to the public before getting an approval for it and teaches emotions to it.

Vasi introduces Chitti to his parents who feel happy about it. He allows Chitti to drive the car but he makes a small accident. Vasi and Chitti goes to the saloon so that Vasi can have a haircut so that can look smart when meeting Sana. Chitti begins to demonstrate his capabilities of instantly reading magazines, referring to databases etc. He meets her at her collage but she still continues to be angry at him. She asks him to meet her at park later in the evening so that the two can part ways. She brings a bag with all the items that he has given to her. Vasi demands that she returns his kisses also. During the process of kissing, they lose count and form truce. Neelo Valapu song comes now.

Chitti parks at no-parking and confronts with a traffic cop. Vasi later introduces the Robo at the International Robotics Conference and gets applause from all. Dr. Bora (played by Danny) tests the Chitti and tries to extract information from him. Sana asks to send Chitti along with her for 2 – 3 days so that she can prepare well for the exams. Bora is also in the process of creating a robot but his robot doesn't work well. He gets upset that his student has built a better robot. Sana introduces Chitti at her Happy Home, built after the death of his father at Kargil. Sana teaches Chitti about what she knows about medicine. He helps her by disabling huge audio disturbances around. He helps her in hi-tech copying in the exam. On the way back home, goons attacks the two inside a local metro train. Chitti jumps into the water and get Sana's purse thrown into the water by the goons. He later bashes the goons and saves Sana. In the process, his battery dries out and Chitti is thrown off the train. The goons try to molest Sana and shouts for help. Chitti gets a power source from the railway track, recharges and rushes to Sana to help.

Bora says the robo is dangerous. Vasi tries to prove that the robo is helpful by using it save human lives in a fire accident. During the process, the robo saves a lady who is bathing and brings her to the ground naked. Vasi gets angry at the robot for not clothing the lady when bringing out. The lady commits suicide unable to bear the humiliation. Bora offers Vasi of an offer from a foreign robotic company else says Vasi has to stop his research. Vasi is given one more chance to prove that the robo is useful to the mankind. Vasi offers Chitti books on various vedas. During the training process, Chitti gets hit by a lightening. Vasi teaches him emotion. Chitti gets to learn emotions felt by human, anger being the first.

Chitti helps Sana and her medical team in a complicated delivery case saving the baby and the mother. Sana kisses Chitti for the achievement. Vasi speaks to Bora and says Chitti has just demonstrated the human side but Bora says he has to wait and watch to see the reality. Emotional Chitti feels love towards Sana when she kisses him. He goes to Sana and wins a kiss strengthening the emotional love bonding of Chitti towards Sana. Inumolo O Hrudayam song is up next.

Bora signs a deal with some miscreants who try to use robots in terrorist activities. He misses the deadline in making the robots. Meanwhile, Chitti begins to act more like a human and begins to compete with Vasi in regard to Sana. It is Sana's birthday and both compete with each other. At the dance party, Vasi announces he is going marry Sana. Vasi struggles to dance with Sana while Chitti offers a robotic song - Chitti Dance Showcase. Sana gets very happy with Chitti.

Chitti proposes to Sana. Sana calms Chitti and says she loves Vasi. Chitti comes back to the lab unhappy. Bora beams over Chitti and moulds the robot for his use. Much to the embarrassment of Vasi, Chitti malfunctions and appears more of human at the military training. Angry with Chitti's performance and his reluctance to ignore Sana, Vasi destroys Chitti and dumps him.

Sana takes Vasi to the beach so as to divert his mood. She tries to get Vasi out of his gloomy mood but accidently falls into trouble. Vasi couldn't save Sana at which instance Sana says Chitti is better and helpful in these circumstances. The two somehow escapes from the danger. Kilimanjaro song is next. Vasi and Sana gets engaged.

Bora gets to know that Chitti is dumped in the municipal yard. He helps re-create Chitti. Bora gets access to the neural schema of Chitti in return of which he offers Sana. Bora makes additional programing to Chitti so as to use it for distruction. Chitti version 2.0 comes to the wedding hall of Vasi and kills few people there and takes Sana with him. Police jeeps follow him which Chitti destroys with his skills. Chitti begins to steal items to get ready for his marriage with Sana. However, on one occasion, he steals an oil tanker and goes towards the sea at which instance the coast guard fires a missile and destroys him. Vasi gets to know that Chitti created many replicas of himself. Bora asks Chitti to stop this and get ready to be delivered to his agents. Chitti kills Bora when he puts Sana to trouble. Chitti takes Sana to the palace created by him and his Chitti replicas.

Vasi gets into the makeup of Chitti 2.0 and enters into his palace and meets Sana. He identifies to be a human by cutting his hand. Sana understands that true identity of Vasi. He tells her to get the complete attention of Chitti for some time. As told, she tries to impress her with her beauty and get his attention diverted for some time. Harima Harima song is next featuring Chitti and Sana. Meanwhile, Vasi tries to get the power down the power in the entire city. The replica robots get out of charge and begin to fall down. Generator doesn't function because its tank is filled with water instead of fuel. However, Chitti and other robots begin to charge using car batteries. Chitti detects that Vasi has entered into his palace and alerts the other robots. Army commandos storm the palace. Chitti and other robots from various shapes and causes damage. At last, Vasi succeeds in disabling Chitti. The court finds fault for Vasi but Chitti comes to the rescue and saves Vasi by presenting important evidence. The court directs Vasi to dismantle Chitti. Vasi instructs Chitti to dismantle itself.
