Plot / Movie Story / Movie Review

An Engineering graduate (did his BTech), Babu (Rana Daggubati), like many other engineers, wants to go USA for his higher studies and settle there. He is a practical and self-centred guy. He works in the drama troupe (Surabhi theatre) that was run by his grandfather and mentor, th legendary artist Subrahmanyam (Kota Srinivasa Rao). The concept of Surabhi theatre is an ancient one and is soon fading away. However, his mentor has a strong feeling that art is can be used to reform the society that is losing values. Few minutes into the movie and one can make it out that Babu and Subrahmanyam have difference of opinion on various topics and it appears they have ideology clash.

Subrahmanyam insists Rana perform in one last play that of Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum at the Bellary Natakotsavam, before the later is made free to go abroad. Shockingly, the grand father passes away and his last wish is to have Rana perform at the theatre. Subrahmanyam wanted his ashes are to be dumped at his native village and hence Babu comes there. Few incidents take place which make him go through an introspection.

Babu also falls in love with Devika (Nayanthara), an investigative journalist making a documentary on mining mafia led by Reddappa (Milind Gunaji) at Bellary, Karnataka. Reddappa terrorizes local people and illegally destroys thousands of acres of lush green forests to feed his hunger for money. Devika makes Babu realize of the day light robbery going there. She inspires the selfish Babu to realize and turn back in a bid to save the society.

The movie ends with the hero avenging the killing of his parents, the dishonour meted out to his grandfather and in the process happiness to the lives of the Surabhi artistes.
